酒店行业是一个长盛不衰的基础性行业，无论社会怎么发展，吃穿住行四大基础行业肯定是需求最旺盛也是最稳定的行业。酒店的管理层次一般都呈金字塔形式，从塔底到塔顶，由宽到窄。管理的幅度则是越往上层，管理难度越大，管理幅度越往下层，管理的幅度越小。国内比较常见的酒店管理是直线职能制管理，在该管理体制中，任何一级领导、管理人员、服务员都要明确自己的业务范围、工作职责及本人应该具有的工作技能和知识。同时国内的休闲旅游的市场在未来10年内也可以看的到是一个飞速发展的阶段。
昆士兰大学与企业合作紧密，酒店管理本科与硕士课程都有选修的实习课程，硕士课程最后一年有必修的实习课程。课程设置上注重理论与实践结合，培养实用型人才。此类涵盖实习的课程对同学们未来的就业更有利。
