The person who immediately comes to mind is my father. My dad is easily the best handy-man I know and is able to fix any issue or problem around the house. He is so incredibly smart; he can DIY any task!
The reason why I think of my dad when being asked this question, is because he is extremely creative, I am always impressed by how intelligent and interesting his ideas are is. He has a workshop in our backyard, and he is always out the back “tinkering”, as he says. This means he is always working on projects and inventing amazing machines, whether it is fixing cars, creating furniture for our home, or helping the local school with creating billycarts for them to race against other schools.
I remember when I was little, my class at school had a challenge where we had to create our own little boats and we would take it down to the local river to have a boat race. When my dad heard about this, he was SO excited about the project because he knew he could create an amazing boat that would win.
All of my peers had boring, basic boats made out of plastic bottles, cardboards and other recycled materials. BUT, my dad helped me with my project, and he build a very fancy mini speed boat, and my dad somehow attached an electric fan onto the boat which made my boat demolish all of the other boats and I won the race by a mile! I think some of the other students were a bit jealous, but I guess this just shows you a snapshot of just how my dad’s brain works and how he always has such creative, interesting ideas! I can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve next!
Growing up and always watching him work his magic has definitely intrigued and inspired me and my brother very much. I have taken the creative side of my dad, and my brother has taken the intelligence side – my brother is actually studying engineering! Seeing the passion from my dad throughout the years has always inspired me to follow my dreams and I will always be thankful to have such a passionate role model in my life.
